The Wright Axcess-Ultralow is a low-floor single-deck bus body built on the Scania L113CRL chassis by Wrightbus between 1995 and 1998.
History[]
A total of 330 were built, of which 244 were for companies owned by FirstBus/Group. These companies included Strathclyde's Buses, Yorkshire Rider, Midland Bluebird, Potteries Motor Traction and Eastern Counties.
Of the remaining 86, North Western took 34 for its Bee Line Buzz and Star Line subsidiaries, whilst Merseybus bought 20, Kentish Bus ten, Chester City Transport six, and Nottingham City Transport and Bullocks Coaches five each.
The North Western, Merseybus and Kentish Bus examples were all subsequently operated by Arriva, specifically its North West and Southern Counties divisions. Arriva have withdrawn their Axcess-Ultralows, with all of them have been scrapped however one example new to MTL has been preserved at the North West Vehicle Restoration Trust in Liverpool.
First are down to their last 36 which are currently operating from Chester, Wirral and Suffolk.
The successor of the Axcess-Ultralow was the Axcess-Floline, which was based on the Scania L94UB chassis.
