B3369 connects Sandbanks Ferry terminal with A350 at Park Gates near Parkstone, which is the only way traversing the peninsula, and B3065 connects Shore Road, part of B3369, to Westbourne.

Sandbanks is served by 3 Purbeck Breezer bus routes operated by morebus and Sandbanks Ferry across the entrance of Poole Harbour:
- Purbeck Breezer route 50 (daily service): Swanage – Sandbanks – Bournemouth railway station
- Purbeck Breezer route 60 (daily service): Poole – Lilliput – Sandbanks
- Purbeck Breezer route 70 (evening service from Poole to Bournemouth only): Poole → Lilliput → Sandbanks Pavillion → Alum Chine → Bournemouth East Cliff
A ferry service to Brownsea Island is also available.
The nearest train stations are Branksome and Parkstone. However, neither of these have a public transport connection to Sandbanks. Bus connection can be made to Bournemouth railway station by route 50, or to Poole railway station by route 60.
