Monks Risborough railway station is the small, single platform railway station of the village of Monks Risborough in Buckinghamshire, England.
Background[]
The station is served by Chiltern Railways trains from London Marylebone and Princes Risborough towards Aylesbury and is situated between Princes Risborough and Little Kimble stations.
The station was opened on 11 November 1929 and was originally known as "Monks Risborough and Whiteleaf Halt".
The station was transferred from the Western Region of British Rail to the London Midland Region on 24 March 1974.[1]
Passengers wishing to travel beyond Princes Risborough will usually have to change, but during the early morning, rush-hour and late evening through services to London Marylebone are available. Likewise, in the evening rush-hour and late evening through services are available from London Marylebone towards Aylesbury. These rush-hour through services prove popular with commuters living in the area. The fastest through train takes only 50 minutes to/from London.
The station is easily accessed via a sloping ramp and a PERTIS (permit to travel) ticket machine is located (3/09) on the platform.
Monks Risborough is adjacent to the north of the larger town of Princes Risborough and the station lies on the short branch line that connects Princes Risborough with Aylesbury.
